Proficiency Allocation
This section describes how proficiency values are allocated.
Initial Character
The initial character starts with all proficiencies at level 1. Maximum value for all non-weapon proficiencies is fixed at 60. Maximum value for all weapon proficiencies is fixed at 90.
Tribesmen
Several factors contribute to the starting and maximum proficiencies of tribesmen.
Starting Proficiency
The starting value for each proficiency is calculated by adding random values from a range in each of the following groups:
- Character level
- Level 0-20: 1-5
- Level 21-40: 5-15
- Level 41-80: 15-25
- Clan status
- Novice: 1-5
- Skilled: 5-15
- Master: 15-25
- Profession
- Warrior: 15-20 added to Dual-blade, Hammer, Great Sword, Blade, Gauntlets
- Hunter: 15-20 added to Bow, Dual-blade, Blade, Gauntlets, Spear, Whip
- Guard: 15-20 added to Shield, Bow, Blade, Great Sword, Spear
- Laborer: 15-20 added to Logging, Mining, Plant, Harvest
- Porter: 15-20 added to Weaving, Potting, Wood & Stone, QieShi, JianZhu, Leatherworking, PouJie, Kiln
- Craftsman: 15-20 added to Craftsman, Weapon Crafting, Armor Crafting, Alchemy, ZhuBao, Cooking, YanMo
The final value is capped at 50.
Maximum Proficiency
The maximum value for each proficiency is calculated by adding random values from a range in each of the following groups:
- Base value
- 75-100
- Profession
- Warrior: 15-25 added to Dual-blade, Hammer, Great Sword, Blade, Gauntlets
- Hunter: 15-25 added to Bow, Dual-blade, Blade, Gauntlets, Spear, Whip
- Guard: 15-25 added to Shield, Bow, Blade, Great Sword, Spear
- Laborer: 15-25 added to Logging, Mining, Plant, Harvest
- Porter: 15-25 added to Weaving, Potting, Wood & Stone, Leatherworking, Kiln
- Craftsman: 15-25 added to Craftsman, Weapon Crafting, Armor Crafting, Alchemy, Cooking
The final value is restricted to the range 50-150, but the only values that appear naturally are in the range 75-125.

Craftsman, Weapon Crafting, Armor Crafting
Crafted equipment (tools, weapons and armor) is categorized into 5 tiers.
- Stone/Cloth
- Bone/Leather
- Bronze
- Iron
- Steel
Selected quality perks only affect specific tiers.
- Every level
- +0.5% Production Speed
- Every 5 levels
- +1% Durability Limit
- Every 10 levels
- -1% Material Cost
- At level 30, choice of one
- +5% Production Speed
- +5% Durability Limit
- +7% T0/T1 Quality
- At level 60, choice of one
- +6% Production Speed
- +6% Durability Limit
- +7% T2 Quality
- At level 90, choice of one
- +7% Production Speed
- +7% Durability Limit
- +7% T3 Quality
- At level 120, choice of one
- +8% Production Speed
- +8% Durability Limit
- +7% T4 Quality
In addition to the above effects, proficiency also affects the chance to craft higher quality equipment. There is a three-step process to determine the resulting quality.
Step 1: Convert the proficiency value into a quality coefficient using the following table. Values are shown for every 5 proficiency levels. For proficiencies between shown values, interpolate linearly.
| Proficiency | T0/T1 (Bone) | T2 (Bronze) | T3 (Iron) | T4 (Steel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| 5 | 15% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| 10 | 30% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| 15 | 45% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| 20 | 60% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| 25 | 75% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| 30 | 90% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
| 35 | 91% | 15% | 0% | 0% |
| 40 | 91% | 30% | 0% | 0% |
| 45 | 91% | 45% | 0% | 0% |
| 50 | 91% | 60% | 0% | 0% |
| 55 | 91% | 75% | 0% | 0% |
| 60 | 91% | 90% | 0% | 0% |
| 65 | 91% | 91% | 15% | 0% |
| 70 | 91% | 91% | 30% | 0% |
| 75 | 91% | 91% | 45% | 0% |
| 80 | 91% | 91% | 60% | 0% |
| 85 | 91% | 91% | 75% | 0% |
| 90 | 91% | 91% | 90% | 0% |
| 95 | 91% | 91% | 91% | 15% |
| 100 | 91% | 91% | 91% | 30% |
| 105 | 91% | 91% | 91% | 45% |
| 110 | 91% | 91% | 91% | 60% |
| 115 | 91% | 91% | 91% | 75% |
| 120 | 91% | 91% | 91% | 90% |
| 125 | 92% | 92% | 92% | 91% |
Step 2: Modify the coefficient
- If the character has selected a quality perk from the proficiency rewards, add the perk value to the coefficient when crafting an item of that tier.
- If the character has a talent which increases quality, add the value from the talent to the coefficient.
Step 3: Use the quality coefficient to look up the minimum crafting quality in the following table.
| Coefficient Range | Minimum Quality |
|---|---|
| (0, 40] | 0 |
| (40, 70] | 1 |
| (70, 85] | 2 |
| (85, 95] | 3 |
| (95, 99] | 4 |
| (99, 100] | 5 |
NOTE: Coefficient range lower bounds are exclusive and upper bounds are inclusive.
Based on random number generation, crafted equipment can be anywhere from the minimum quality for a given coefficient up to the maximum possible quality.
